2020 Season Update

Dear Mustang families,

The Redmond Football Board hopes this finds you healthy and active during this unprecedented time. This note is to give you an update on refunds, Fundraising, and plans for fall\spring and open board positions.

In a normal year we would be well into our 2nd week of football, but instead we are getting ready to process refunds for the season.  Some can be done electronically, and some are going to have to be done with an old-fashioned check.  As we stated from the outset, all money paid, deposit or full amounts, are 100% refundable and we are working through the logistics of processing refunds right now.

ACTION ITEM: We expect to be processing refunds the week of 9/1.  You will receive it electronically.  If for some reason we cannot go through electronically we will notify you via email and mail you a check.

One thing that we had committed to do this year is purchase new helmets for the club.  Due to all the uncertainty, we held off placing the order, but we will be doing that either next spring or fall.

ACTION ITEM:  If you would like to donate any of your deposit or full amount to fund-raising for the helmets, please reply to this email by 9/1 with the amount you would like to donate and we can get you a receipt for your taxes. If your company participates in corporate matching for donations to 501C3 organizations (like ours), we would greatly appreciate the extra help.

GEJFA, our league, is looking into the possibility of doing spring football if there is interest as an FYI. We are being as a board next week to discuss next steps.

Football is in a tough spot right now in Redmond.  Our numbers have been steadily declining, and we want to try to reverse the trend we have been seeing. To get more kids connected with Redmond Jr Mustang football, we are considering doing a weekly conditioning and training practice with the high school strength and conditioning coach. We are also trying to plan a couple of football and cheer clinics for this fall that will be non-contact and aligned with safety protocols. We will need community help in recruiting kids to participate in these programs! Please stay tuned.

ACTION ITEM: We will soon be sending out a survey that will judge the interest in doing spring football. Please keep an eye out in your email and complete the survey!

Lastly, I am putting out the call for board members for next year.  Many current board members have players that are aging out of the program, so we are going to need to rebuild the team with new community members. Open positions will be equipment, fields, safety, promotions and registrar.  Please consider being a part of the leadership team and setting the stage for future Redmond Jr. Mustang Football success!

ACTION ITEM: Please respond to this email if you have interest in joining the board and which positions you are considering.  Also, if you want to be a part of our volunteer community, please respond with how you can assist.

Please take care and stay healthy!
