New Air Quality Policy

By Todd Setcavage 08/17/2018, 10:30am PDT

The fires from this summer have pushed the air quality into unhealthy and even hazardous levels, and we expect this to continue through the remainder of the summer.  The Football program is committed to ensuring a safe practice environment for our players and coaches.  As part of this we are looking for indoor facilities that will allow us to practice when outside conditions do not allow it.  Parents please communicate to coaches any respiratory issues a player might have (e.g. asthma) that would restrict their ability to participate in practice.

Additionally, we are establishing a new Air Quality Policy to help provide some predictably when these events occur.

Redmond Jr. Football will leverage the State of Washington’s Department of Ecology Air Quality Advisory Framework and reporting from state’s air quality sensors.  Please read the FAQ on their site for additional information.

State https://fortress.wa.gov/ecy/enviwa/

Practice for the day will be determined by the criteria below and readings from the Bellevue Reporting station as of 2pm.  Coaches will communicate to teams the status of practice at that time.  Bellevue Station

1.Good.  No restrictions

2.Moderate.  Light conditioning only.

3.Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups.  Indoor preferred.  Board decision on outdoor.  If outdoor, No pads, No conditioning.

4.Unhealthy.  Indoor required.  No outdoor practice.

5.Very Unhealthy.  Indoor required.  No outdoor practice.

6.Hazardous.  Indoor required.  No outdoor practice.

You can find more information on the state’s air quality advisory system here:  https://fortress.wa.gov/ecy/enviwa/

Flag Football Registration is Open

By Jim Settle 04/12/2018, 10:15am PDT

Does your child want to play football but is not quite old enough yet?

GEJFA tackle football begins in 3rd grade for most children.  If you have a child that will be in 1st or 2nd grade, consider starting them out in our Flag Football program.  Our teams will wear the Redmond green and gold, practice and play on the same fields as our tackle players, and compete with other GEJFA Clubs (e.g. Skyline, Inglemoor, Bothell, etc.).

Practices will start the week of  September 10th and will be one day a week.  Games will played each Saturday beginning September 22nd and finishing on November 3rd.  Most games will be on the Redmon High School football field, and practices will be at a local Redmond fields.
